Every calculator here is a model, and every model simplifies. This page explains where those simplifications sit, so you know when a result can be relied on and when it needs professional confirmation.
1. Informational purpose
These tools exist to help you understand and check a calculation. They are not a substitute for professional judgement, and no result should be treated as a decision in itself. Where a page documents an assumption, that assumption is part of the answer.
2. Health calculators
BMI, BMR, TDEE, and water intake are estimates derived from population studies. They are not diagnostic and cannot account for your medical history, medication, body composition, thyroid function, pregnancy, or clinical conditions.
- BMI does not measure body fat and systematically misclassifies muscular and older individuals.
- Metabolic rate equations carry individual error of 10% or more even when correctly applied.
- Fluid intake guidance does not apply where fluid is clinically restricted, as in some heart and kidney conditions.
Do not start, stop, or change any treatment, diet, or exercise programme on the basis of a result from this site. Consult a qualified clinician.
3. Financial calculators
Savings and discount tools apply standard arithmetic to the figures you enter. They do not account for tax, fees, inflation, variable rates, or the specific terms of any product. Projections assume a constant rate that real markets do not deliver, and past performance does not indicate future returns. Nothing here is a personal recommendation, an offer, or investment advice.
4. Date and legal deadlines
Date calculations follow the most widely used convention where several exist, and each page states which one it uses. Legal deadlines, limitation periods, and contractual notice periods are governed by rules that vary by jurisdiction and instrument. A deadline computed here is a working figure, not legal advice, and being one day out can be fatal to a claim. Confirm with a qualified lawyer.
5. Unit conversion and engineering
Conversion factors are taken from BIPM, NIST, and ISO definitions and are exact where the underlying definition is exact. Results are nonetheless subject to the precision of what you enter and to floating-point rounding at extreme magnitudes. Do not use these outputs directly for structural, aviation, medical dosing, or other safety-critical work without independent verification.
6. Accuracy and errors
We take care with formulas and cite primary standards rather than secondary summaries, and each page carries a review date. Errors are still possible. If you find one, please report it through the contact form and it will be corrected.
7. External sources and advertising
References link to standards bodies and published research for verification. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content. Advertising is served by Google and is not reviewed or endorsed by us; the presence of an ad implies no recommendation.
8. No warranty and limitation of liability
The service is provided without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on any result produced here. Liability that cannot lawfully be excluded is unaffected. See the Terms of Service for the full position.
